SUFI SHRINE TERROR ATTACK

A day after the terror attack in the sanctum sanctorum of Ajmer’s famous shrine, the dargah of Moin-ud-din Chishti, Rajasthan police have held six people for interrogation, including pilgrims of Bangladeshi origin.

However, no arrests have been made in Thursday's blast which claimed two lives and left 20 injured, a senior official said.

“Police and intelligence agencies are interrogating suspected people, even pilgrims of Bangladesh origin besides investigation by forensic and state CID-Crime branch experts,” Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) Kanihya Lal said. A bag containing an explosive device, two SIM cards, and pieces of a mobile phone have been found at the blast site.

Rajasthan Govt dialogue with leaders of Gujjars

With over 33,000 Gujjars, lodged in jails across Rajasthan, refusing to be let out till the government meets their demands, the Vasundhara Raje government has initiated dialogue with leaders of the community.

The Gujjars launched an agitation on October 2 demanding that they be taken out of the OBC reservation list and given Schedule Tribe status instead. So far, their protests remained largely peaceful with thousands of Gujjars courting arrest across the state. But a week later, patience appears to be running out.

''If the government doesn't meet our demands, then this agitation which has so far been peaceful could turn violent. After all, our leaders are in jail and there is no one to control the mob,'' said a Gujjar.

Worried that the violence may spread, the Vasundhara government has begun talks with the Gujjar leadership, most of whom have now been moved to Ajmer jail.
