With AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa distancing herself from the ProgresUnited National sive Alliance, a group of eight non-UPA and non-NDA parties including Samajwadi Party, SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday said he would extend support to any party, even BJP, to topple the Central government and the BSP government in Uttar Pradesh.
Mulayam told reporters he would not hesitate in aligning with any party, irrespective of having ideological differences, provided it was genuinely interested in dethroning the two governments. "We are against both these governments, as they are not at all interested in the welfare of the people." On the possibility of a mid-term poll, he said he was hearing about this and could not comment at this point. "Everything depends on the Left Front, which is a part of the UPA," he said, adding SP was always with Left Font in its move to pull down the government. "We would support any party, if it brings a no confidence motion against the UPA government," he said.
Asked what his party’s stand would be if BJP brings a no-confidence motion against the UPA government, he replied SP would not hesitate in supporting BJP. But he hurriedly added BJP would never do this as it was hand-in-glove with Congress. He blamed the Centre for its failure on all fronts, particularly on the foreign policy and the issues related to agriculture and the nuclear deal with the US.
