Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh in two-phase Election

The Election Commission on Wednesday announced two-phase Assembly elections for both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh in December
.
Announcing the poll schedule for both the state, Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswamy said Gujarat will go to polls on December 11 and 16 while in Himachal Pradesh voting will be held on December 14 and 19.

With this, the model code of conduct has come into force in both the states. Gopalaswamy said the commission has already completed the electoral roll revision in the two poll-bound states and electronic voting machines will be used in these elections.

The CEC said police forces from adjoining states will be deployed in the two states during elections as per requirement.

He, however, ruled that no election-related officers who have spent more than three years in a place will be allowed to function during the polls.
