SRINAGAR: The revered shrine of famous Kashmiri sufi saint Sheikh-ul-Alam at Chrar-e-Sharief in Budgam district will be opened nex month after a gap of 12 years.
According to deputy commissioner Budgam Farooq Ahmad Renzu, all the construction work at the shrine including that of the 'namaz gah' (prayer hall) has been completed and it would be opened for regular prayers from second week of November.
The shrine of Shiekh-ul-Alam was damaged in a fire incident in 1995 following an encounter between security forces and militants and could not be repaired in the last 12 years due to various reasons.
However, on the instructions of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, the construction work was taken up on war-footing during the last six months and the ‘namaz gah’ was ready, Renzu said.
