5 peopel were injured when a group of people protesting...

Five persons were injured when a group of people protesting Bahujan Samaj Party state-level secretary Murugavelraj's arrest, pelted stones at five buses running between Coimbatore and Madurai at Pallapatti near Kodai road early this morning.

The buses also were damaged in the stone-pelting. The losses due to the damage was estimated to be around Rs one lakh, police said. No arrests have been made so far in connection with the protests.

Murugavelraj was arrested on Friday when he attempted to hold indefinite fast to protest against preventing Dalits participating in a temple festival at Avarampatti. He was not given permission to hold the fast, police said
