The BJP on Wednesday said National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah should be booked for "questioning" the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India and "raising" objections to the singing of 'Vande Mataram'.
"The government cannot afford to give unbridled freedom to anyone to express views which have potential of fomenting anti-India sentiments and creating dissension in the civil society," BJP's Jammu and Kashmir unit president Ashok Khajuria told reporters here.
Abdullah had earlier "raised objections" to the singing of 'Vande Matram' and had recently "questioned" the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India, he said.
Commenting on the killing of two civilians allegedly by security forces, Abdullah on November 19 had said "I will have to think twice again whether the instrument of accession signed by my late father, Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah, and Maharaja Hari Singh was fair and straight or not. Such incidents also force people of the state to think whether their decision to side with India was right"
.
The BJP wanted legal action against Abdullah and other leaders who have been "indulging in rebel-rousing and anti-India activities", Khajuria said.
