Manyavar Kanshiram Shodh Peeth in UP Universities

Not confined to building only memorials in memory of her political guru and BSP founder Kanshiram, chief minister Mayawati is now desperate to make him a popular theme of study in state universities.

In line with this, the government has now decided to set up ‘Manyavar Kanshiram Shodh Peeth’ in six state universities from the ongoing academic session. Those picked up for this purpose are: Lucknow University, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University of Gorakhpur, Kashi Vidhyapeeth (Varanasi), Dr BR Ambedkar University (Agra), Chaudhry Charan Singh University (Meerut) and Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj University (Kanpur).

A decision to this effect was formally taken at a high-level meeting held here on Friday. As per the decision, these six universities would be asked to set up the ‘peeth’ or centres meant for studies and encouraging research on the works and social movement of Kanshiram on their campuses respectively from this academic session only.
