The suspense and month long drama in Karnataka is finally coming to an end. The Centre today revoked President' s rule in the state paving the way for the BJP to have its first chief minister in any southern state.
B S Yeddyurappa was away praying at Vaisho Devi when he heard the news that his 21-month-wait for Chief Ministership has borne fruit - his passage to the most coveted chair in Bangalore was cleared by the Union Cabinet.
Yeddyurappa now has the distinction of becoming the first BJP Chief Minister in southern India.
"I am an ordinary farmer's son," the new CM modestly said. "For the last 35-40 years, I have been working hard in my village."
For the Centre which had been dilly-dallying and studying each of Governor Rameshwar Thakur's reports carefully, it was a tough decision to take.
