BJP has crowned Advani to keep Modi out: PM

In Vadodara, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that the BJP central leadership is wary of Modi because of which former deputy prime minister L K Advani has been named as the candidate for PM.

On Monday, BJP named the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha as the party's prime ministerial candidate.

According to sources, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee endorsed Advani's candidature and the Board unanimously picked Advani for the post.
Advani's nomination was also cleared by the RSS on Sunday night.
Eighty-year-old Advani has scarcely concealed his ambition for the country's top job.

He came close to this when Vajpayee made him his deputy prime minister in 2002.
Meanwhile, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav has ''no objection'' to BJP projecting Advani as prime ministerial candidate. Advani's hardline image is no factor, Yadav added.
