It’s a scene seldom seen. Excited youngsters giving hi-fives outside polling booths. Thrilled at casting their vote for the first time, young people discussed elections animatedly at every polling booth in the city.
"I woke up early today to go to the polling booth," Sapna Vyas, a first-time voter, staying in Satellite said. She was voting at Madhur Hall. Roopal Shah, who got married only last month, travelled from Gandhinagar to the city to cast her vote. "As my name is registered in Satellite, I have come home specially to cast my vote," said Shah. And most youngsters did not keep their vote a secret. "Modi" - pat came the reply when asked who, did they feel, will form the government.
Ankit Patel, 20, an engineering student, said, "Being a first time voter, I couldn’t have missed this opportunity. I voted keeping in mind the state’s growth. There are no issues in education that bother me. Modi is the best and he will come back."
Siddhi Rajani, 19, who had come to vote with her parents at Kameshwar School, near Jodhpur crossroads, said, “I think our state gives enough opportunities to youngsters. I voted today for other issues like quality of life, pollution and environmental issues.” Ajay Mishra, 18, said, “I had been anxiously waiting for the day when I get to cast my vote. I feel I have participated in the process of government formation.”
