Minorities in Gujarat move on

In a rehabilitation colony in Juapura, Ghulam Khan Rasool Khan was not in front of the television nor was he glued on to the election analysis.

A father who lost his son, he doesn't try to hide his displeasure at Modi's victory. His wife breaks down at the very mention of Modi.
But Rasool Khan is pragmatic. One has to accept the people's verdict, he says. As for him, he will wait.

In this land of Ram, he will wait for Ram to deliver justice.
''In Sri Lanka people worship Ravan. But Indians worship Ram because Ram is capable of delivering justice,'' said Ghulam Khan Rasool Khan, Resident, Rehabilitation Colony.

Another Muslim resident of the Rehabilitation Colony, Shahid, tried concentrating on the film he was watching, making sure it drowned out the sounds of the election results being declared.

''I am not interested in politics. My interests lie in Bollywood,'' he said.
Shahid has his priorities straight. ''Life is short. There's no time to hate,'' he added.
