"Go Back to India" screams an American who has just been laid off a job in the film "Offshore" that captures the angst and insecurity of scores of Americans fast losing out their jobs to Indians.
Aptly titled "Offshore", the film which is all set to hit the screen in India on December 7, is a story that takes a look at a contemporary issue that plagues the US.
So far, an average American really did not care about offshoring but now it has begun to pinch and lately it is where they have become vocal about this trend that is threatening their jobs and their standard of living, says T M Dayananda, producer and creative head of the film.
The 92-minute film highlights conflicts primarily in two verticals. The conflict between employees in the US and employees in India and the conflict between the US CEOs and its shareholders who are bent on ensuring that margins do not dip even if it meant cutting down on employees.
Dayayanda who began researching on the film from 2003 to 2004 before actually beginning shooting the film in 2005 both in the US and in Mumbai, said "I was keen in getting a human perspective to this whole issue. It is about an individual's reaction when he faces
unemployment".
