The Gujarat election campaign has touched high gear with the Congress pitching Rahul Gandhi on the last day of campaigning.
Speaking at Surat, the young Gandhi took on Chief Minister Narendra Modi's two favourite election issues.
Rahul claimed Gujarat was lagging behind in investments as compared to other states, and worse, Modi had falsely claimed to have given land to tribals.
''Gujarat government had promised total literacy but the fact is that still 30 per cent people are illiterate. After elections, we will give you a new government, which won't be based on lies,'' he said.
Without naming Modi, Rahul said it was ironic that in Mahatma Gandhi's home state, governance was based on lies.
''Gandhiji has taught us to follow the truth and fight against injustice. The government in Gujarat thinks that if they scream aloud lies, people will believe that is the truth,'' said Rahul.
