An elderly NRI passenger died at the city airport soon after arriving on a Malaysian Airlines flight, officials said on Thursday.
The 69-year-old passenger, identified as Girdharimal Jagjivan, arrived here last night and had cleared immigration when he collapsed, a spokesperson for the Mumbai International Airport Limited said.
Family members alleged medical negligence on part of the airport, a charge which was denied by the airport authorities, who said all possible treatment had been provided to the passenger.
However, custom officials said that they called a doctor present at the airport at about 11:15 pm and also a co-passenger, who was a doctor, to provide him treatment.
"Our doctor provided the patient with CPR and medical treatment but there was no response. The patient was then taken out to a waiting ambulance where he was administered treatment again but he did not respond after which he was declared dead," he said.
