Three burnt alive as tourist bus

Three tourists were burnt alive and over 30 others injured when their bus caught fire, in Bhubaneshwar on Monday.

The tourists, two of whom are critically injured, were returning from a trip to Puri.

Eyewitnesses say that the engine of the bus had caught fire.

The doors of the bus were jammed and the windows had to be broken to rescue the people.

The injured have been rushed to a hospital in Cuttack.

All 72 pilgrims on board the bus hailed from Rajgarh district in MP.

Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik describing the accident as most unfortunate, has offered to bear all medical expenses for the treatment of the victims.

"We will see that the bodies of the two deceased persons are returned safely home in a dignified manner. We'll look after the medical expenses of all people," Patnaik said.
