The Maharashtra government is yet to take any action against Raj Thackeray despite legal opinion that there are enough grounds to proceed against him for inciting violence against north Indians in Mumbai.
However, if he's still walking free, Raj Thackeray knows the man, he should thank Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh or at least that is what he said when his son's school principal thanked him for attending a school event.
''Do not thank me. Thank Vilasrao Deshmukh because thanks to him I am not in jail,'' said Raj Thackeray.
Later Raj Thackeray even gave a little history lesson to the principal himself when he referred to Mumbai by its previous name Bombay in his speech.
''You said Bombay several times but you should say Mumbai and also explain to the students why they should use the Marathi name of the city,'' Raj added.
