A trap laid by the police today netted four Uzbekistan girls involved in an international prostitution ring in Panaji. The four, who were caught in the trap laid by the crime branch, were produced in court and five days police custody obtained.
Police sources disclosed that they had laid a trap to nab them and had been trying to get them to respond since morning. But the four took the bait only in the afternoon and came to a multiplex in Panaji, where they walked into the police net. They were brought to the police lock-up around 8 p.m., and will be produced before the court on Monday.
The sources claimed that this breakthrough was the culmination of their three-month investigation, which they had started after being tipped off by an informant. After preliminary investigations, the police reportedly sent a decoy last night to bait the trap.
The sources also claimed that the sex ring was allegedly being run by a Russian woman based in Calangute through mobiles.
These girls were charging around Rs 35,000 per night and coming to the location on call anywhere in Goa, informed the sources.
