Aishwarya declines Mani Ratnam’s Lajjo

It was reported that Aishwarya has replaced Kareena Kapoor in Mani Ratnam’s dream project Lajjo. While according to Aishwarya’s business manager, Hari Singh, she has been committed for only one film that will also star hubby Abhishek in the main lead. Hence Aishwarya has not been signed for Lajjo.

Lajjo was supposed to star Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor. But recently there was a buzz that Aishawrya will play the title role. However, a unit hand informs that Mani Ratnam will start his next film by September end and as of now he has no plans to revive his shelved project Lajjo as yet.

Aishwarya who is holidaying in Miami with hubby Abhishek, is completely unaware of this buzz. We contacted Aishwarya’s manager Hari Singh, he refutes the buzz, “Aishawarya is committed for one film with Mani Ratnam. As far as Lajjo is concerned she hasn’t signed this film. She is looking forward to doing Mani’s next film which also stars Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role.

The subject of the film is yet to be finalized. Mani Ratnam plans to commence this film by September end.”

“The duo has been signed but the subject and script is yet to be finalized. The Bachchans trust Mani blindly and know whatever film he makes will be good for them. Mani Ratnam’s Yuva was a turning point in Abhishek's career and brought him back in the race. His Guru broke the jinx that the Ash - Abhi pair is a flop, and the film turned out to be first hit of 2007.” says an industry insider.
