Dimple the actor to Dimple the philanthropist

The woman of silent acclaim and solemn praise, who, now past her prime, still draws unadulterated envy by the younger of the lot, has a heart to match her undoubtable charisma. Dimple Kapadia was the guest of honour at Unnayan - a unique attempt to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and fight the discrimination associated with it through a series of classical dance performances and a ballet. Under the concurrent aegis of dance institute Urrmee, health communication outfit Johns Hopkins University and actor Jackie Shroff's ensemble JK foundation, the event was inaugurated by Kapadia, simmering in a peach and bottle green ensemble. “I am here because this is an initiative taken by a very good friend, who convinced me that it is a worthy cause to make a showing for. And it is”, says the Rudali actress.
“To be very frank, I have always shied away from social causes because people presume that celebrities do it to gain mileage out of the event by publicizing themselves. I have that fear of involvement with such charity issues and I condemn myself for being so selfish as to fear people's perception and take their misjudgments. But, after contemplation, I believe one shouldn’t really care about what the people say if you know you are doing it for a cause that will help change lives or contribute to a greater good. And if you have that power to influence mindsets, spread the message and make a difference, then you shouldn’t hesitate to tap that potential”, she asserts, reflecting her codes.
As a general supplication to one and all, she says, “I would like to say that we always tend to think tragedy would not afflict us, that we would somehow be spared. We believe ourselves to be immortal, but maladies do not make an exception to anyone. They just hit you in the face while you think it won’t happen to you. So I request everyone to get tests done regularly to make sure.
Once you are afflicted it is not just you who suffer, but the whole family. And if you love yourselves and your family it is imperative that you get your tests done to make sure you are safe from this scourge".
