An Assistant Sub-Inspector and two employees of the police department have been arrested in Ludhiana for the alleged gangrape of a 16-year-old girl. The incident occurred on Friday.
According to the girl, she was sitting with one of her friends when the three men came, thrashed the friend and picked her up. They allegedly took her to a house near the District Commissioner's residence and raped her.
After the misdeed, the cops left the girl alone in the house. Some people later took her to the police station.
Speaking about the incident, Ashish Choudhary, SP Ludhiana said, ''A teenager has accused our policemen of rape. We have arrested a policeman and two others in this connection but the incident has to be cross-checked and verified before any action could be taken.''
According to sources, the victim will undergo medical examination on Sautrday.
Meanwhile, the girl's friend Sandeep Verma, who was with her when the incident took place, says four men approached them. Two of them were in police uniform.
''There were four people. Of them, two were in police uniform. They took me aside and started questioning me. The policemen then took her away. When I questioned them, they started beating me,'' he says.
