Sonia saved J&K Speaker in sex scandal: Cong MP

An old controversy that has come back to haunt and embarrass the Congress.
Madan Lal Sharma, a party MP from Jammu has accused the state Assembly Speaker Tara Chand of being involved in last year's infamous Srinagar sex scandal.
Not just that, he has also that alleged Congress president Sonia Gandhi and state Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad intervened to save Tara Chand.
“Ghulam Nabi Azad pleaded to Sonia Gandhi. It would have been a shame if Tara Chand, the state Assembly Speaker were arrested. What would happened to the party name then?” he said.
Madan Lal made the allegations in a public address at a Vilaleg near Akhnoor, the constituency of his brother MLA Shyam Sharma.

He also named the former State Pradesh Congress Chief (SPCC) Peerzada Mohamamd Sayeed in the scandal.
The accusations are likely to taken seriously by the party. Tara Chand says the final decision rests with the “high command”.
“Everybody knows my image. The party President will deal with this,” he said.
Several IAS officers and J&K ministers were named in connection with the sex scandal and two former minister of state were even arrested last year. In an election year, the fresh allegations are likely to give the party sleepless nights.
