Terror Tuesday: Victims recall Jaipur horrorTerror

Jaipur: Eight-year-old Shabana came to the Pink City for a vacation all the way from Mumbai, but a day after terrorists stained the streets of Jaipur with blood, her only concern is the safety of her family.
The blast at Johri Bazaar, where Shabana was shopping with her mother, has left her with an injured eye and a fractured leg. Doctors say the injuries will take longer to heal because of the high-intensity explosives, which were made to ensure maximum harm.
However, Shabana is not aware of the bigger tragedy that has struck her – she will not see her mother again who succumbed to her injuries when Shabana was still unconscious.
The eight-year-old is not alone in her grief. At Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Hospital, where the injured are admitted, every face tells a tragic story.
Gul Mohammad, a rickshaw puller, is inconsolable. He asks, “I saw everything. It was gruesome. I don’t know why people are out to kill each other.”

Mohammad fears his son Shahid might lose an eye. He shudders at the thought that he could well have lost him in the blasts – Shahid had simply gone for a sip of water, when the bomb exploded.
Sunita Bhatia, a housewife, is equally helpless. “My husband is in a lot of pain. I can’t bear to look at him. I don’t know if he will be able to walk again,” she says.
However, in this dark hour, doctors and citizens of a terror-hit Jaipur are turning out to be the beacons of courage.
Superintendent of SMS Hospital, Narpat Singh Shekhawat says, “The doctors dealt with the situation quite well. We have sufficient number of resident doctors. Doctors have also been called in from Ajmer.”
