4 men gangrape newly-wed tribal near Gondia

GONDIA: A newly-wed tribal woman was gangraped by four miscreants on May 29 midnight in Hiwara village, 50 kms from here. But the sequence of incidents and the woman's statement have put her husband under the scanner.
Madhuri was married to Mulchand Dhurve of Hiwara village on April 30, 2008. The honeymoon over, Mulchand started harassing his wife for dowry. On May 29 midnight, when the couple was sleeping in their room, two persons forcibly entered their house, tied Madhuri's mouth and took her with them. Two accomplices were waiting outside. According to the complaint filed by Madhuri, the four persons dumped her into a jeep, took her to some unknown place and gangraped her. The rapists left her at the secluded place after she became unconscious.
On May 30 morning, a man and two ladies offered her some water and food and dropped her at Tumsar bus station. A bus driver, Sheikh, who happens to be a friend of her father, recognised Madhuri and took her to her parent's home. Meanwhile, Madhuri's husband reached there by afternoon and tried to explain why he failed to wake up while his wife was taken away.
Later, while leaving, he assured to return with a vehicle and take his wife back. But had failed to return till the filing of this report. Madhuri and the police suspect Mulchand's connivance in the crime. Tiroda police first registered an offence but transferred the case to Andhalgaon police station, due to jurisdiction issues
