Bid to molest DU girl on Rajdhani Express

PATNA: A Delhi University student Anju (name changed) had a harrowing time in the New Delhi-bound Howrah Rajdhani Express when an inebriated youth tried to molest her between Jasidih and Patna stations on Sunday.

She left her journey midway and alighted at Patna Junction. She will fly to New Delhi on Monday, said one of her relatives in Patna.

Anju had boarded the train at Howrah for New Delhi. The accused, Sameer, boarded the train at Jasidih. He had been allotted berth no. 6 in the AC III-tier compartment, while Anju’s berth no was 2.

According to railway sources, throughout the journey from Jasidih to Patna Junction, the youth tried to misbehave with her. A frightened Anju contacted one of her relatives in Patna on mobile and urged him to rescue her. When the train reached Patna Junction, the first stoppage of Rajdhani after Jasidih, Anju lodged a complaint with RPF.

Sameer was detained and being interrogated by RPF, the sources said.

Railway authorities detained the train at Patna Junction for nearly an hour. A panic-like situation prevailed on the platform. The train finally left for New Delhi around 10.15 pm.
