How can Left support corrupt Maya: Congress

NEW DELHI: Congress on Monday said the BJP-led NDA is in a "dark room and deep freeze" ahead of the trust vote and asserted that it will manage to win the confidence motion with the support of 280 plus MPs.

AICC Media Cell Chairman Veerappa Moily said he did not find "any enthusiasm or confidence" among Opposition leaders as they launched a tirade on the UPA during the debate on trust motion.

"We were never in minority. Even after the Left withdrew support, we had 276 members on our side. Today, I can confidently say that we are 280-plus. That remains unaltered," Moily told a private news channel.

On the Left parties, he said, "Their anger at the UPA shows only frustration. The adventure with which they had proceeded to defeat UPA is not going to happen."

On reports of BSP chief Mayawati being projected as a prime ministerial candidate, Moily said that the Left had roped her in but she is yet to learn about foreign policies.

He rubbished Mayawati's statement that the US will attack Iran soon after the signing the Indo-US nuclear deal. He wondered how the Left can support the BSP chief who is "facing the worst corruption charges".
