Neha Dhupia's all new avatar

She made a smooth transition from the Miss India Universe 2002 crown to the Hindi film industry.

But, unfortunately, her tryst with Bollywood did not bring the success she would have wished for. Though, she did manage to catch a few eyes with her dare-bare role in Julie, Neha Dhupia is still waiting for that one film that would establish her in Bollywood. And, with quite a few releases lined up, it might be sooner than we think.

“I will be seen in Akshay Kumar’s forthcoming film, where I play a Punjabi kudi who is a wannabe actress. It is a fun character and I had a blast doing it. Then there is Maharathi which is originally a play written by Paresh Rawal. The movie stars Rawal himself and Naseeruddin Shah. Incidentally, I play Nasser’s wife. It is a thriller and I am happy I took it up. The film is due to release by the end of August,” says Neha.

Paying Guest is another film that Neha is doing with Mukta Arts, and another one tentatively titled Raftaar where she stars opposite Emraan Hashmi. Dasvidaniya is another film that she will be spotted in where she plays Vinay Pathak’s love interest. Is that all she has in her kitty? After some thought, she says, “I am also doing this film called Raat Gayi Baat Gayi apart from I Am 24, and I might do one more in October about which I cannot reveal much right now.”

She is just back from a short holiday which she took in Pondicherry and tells us more about it. “I had taken a break and wanted to go somewhere closer to home. So, I chose this place. It was a cool magical place.”
There is more happening in her life, than some movies.

She recently shot for R&B star Ginuwine’s international music video in London. And, she couldn’t get any happier about it. Says she excitedly, “The video looks so cool that I myself cannot believe that it’s me. They were looking for an urban-looking Indian woman who will look equally sensuous in a sari and one who exhibits inner strength.” So, did she set temperatures soaring with the video? Pat comes the reply, “You bet. I am not being pompous, but seriously I look amazing in it. You guys will see it for yourself as the video will release in India by mid-August.”
