The rape and murder of a BPO employee in Pune has brought the safety of women employees in focus once again and CNN-IBN reports that women working the graveyard shift are feeling increasingly uneasy.
A call centre employee, Bhavana, says, "It was scary to see the news in the morning newspapers”. Even as she makes her favourite snacks for Diwali, this news haunts Bhavna.
She can't stop thinking about it because Bhavana also works in a call center and is required to work late just like 22 year old Jyoti Choudhary who was allegedly raped and then brutally murdered in a call center car by two men who are now in police custody.
SP Pune rural, Shivaji Nagarepatil says, “The two accused have confessed of raping and murdering the girl”.
But for somebody like Bhavana it’s not the arrest of the accused that matters. What really matters is the safety of thousands of other working ladies like her and she has some tips on self defense.
