The much-anticipated release of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt from the Yerawada central prison in Pune come through on Thursday.
Owing to legal technicalities, Dutt had to spend one more night in jail despite TADA court issuing his release order on Wednesday.
The Supreme Court order granting bail to Dutt reached the designated TADA court in Mumbai on Wednesday, but the same could not be processed and forwarded to the Yerawada prison on time, that is, by 5 pm, after which the jail doesn't entertain bail orders as per norms.
Bail was granted to Dutt and 16 other convicts in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case on Tuesday.
Dutt's bail document reached the prison early on Thursday morning, facilitating his release. A chartered aircraft has been arranged for the actor to fly back to Mumbai.
The TADA court convicted Dutt in the Mumbai serial blasts case and sentenced him to six years in prison on July 31.
