Hoping to build a consensus around the controversial Women's Reservation Bill, CPI(M) leaders have met RJD chief Lalu Prasad from whom they elicited a promise that efforts would be made to table the bill in the coming Winter session of the Parliament.
Accusing the UPA of ''dilly-dallying'' on the issue of providing 33 per cent quota for women in elections, CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat said the party was not going to leave the matter and will find a logical end to the matter.
In their efforts to find a consensus, she said they discussed the matter with Lalu Prasad, who had earlier raised some objections after initially supporting the Bill.
''Laluji had earlier supported the Bill and suddenly at one point, when it was about to be tabled, he raised objections. We have had a discussion with him recently. He told us that he will help us in taking the matter forward,'' Karat said during an interview to Lok Sabha TV.
Opposing the idea of 'Quota-Within-Quota', she said there was no logic in such an argument.
''If a particular seat was OBCs and Muslims are prominent and it is declared as woman's seat, it will normally go for a woman from that community,'' she said
