Goa is ready for Christmas and New Year festival

The last minute preparations for Goa's favourite festival `Christmas' are on in full swing in the state, with people all set to usher in the festivities and goodies that the year-end revelry showers on them.

People dressed as `Santa Claus' were seen going around in different floats here since Sunday night. The mid-night masses would be held in almost all the churches and chapels of the state, marking the beginning of the Christmas celebrations.

Panaji, Margao, Ponda, Mapusa and Vasco, which are major markets of the state, were abuzz with the people busy with the last minute shoppings.

Huge cribs have taken shape at different churches including Panaji's immaculate conception church, which is a major tourist attraction.

The cribs depicting birth of Lord Jesus are also built at almost every household.
The five star hotels, encashing on the festivities, have decorated their premises, with Christmas tree being a prime attraction.

Various dance parties and other events are also planned tonight at different places mostly in the coastal belt.
