BJP accuses Centre of 'soft attitude' towards terrorism

Stepping up its attack against the UPA government on internal security issue, BJP on Tuesday said the "soft" attitude of the Centre towards terrorism has emboldened militants and they are having a "free play" on Indian soil.

"The UPA government has neither the will nor the desire or strength to fight terrorism and instead it continues to indulge in a flip-flop blame game," party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

He said the pre-dawn attack on a CRPF camp in Rampur in Uttar Pradesh killing eight security personnel and a civilian, is a "heart-rending" New Year greeting to the nation by the UPA.

"This is possibly the first pre-meditated fidayeen attack in the country's hinterland, indicating that Jehadi outfit modules have penetrated deep inside the country and are no more confined to the borders of Kashmir," he added.

"It is the attitude and intent of the UPA government not only to go soft and slow on terrorism but also deliberately display such actions emboldening jehadi outfits and terror organisations to have a free play on Indian soil," he added.

Criticising the governments's anti-terror record, he alleged that the UPA government remain unfazed by the spate of terrorist attacks in Uttar Pradesh "where not even a single accused have been apprehended".
