Tourists molested in New Year bash in Kerala

It was the great Fort Kochi New Year beach bash but it all turned ugly. A few hooligans started misbehaving with foreign tourists. For Swedish tourist Christon, whose teenage daughter was molested by the hoodlums, it was a nightmare.

''They misbehaved with my teenage daughter. People should give respect to women, we give respect to Indian women. Such behavior will affect the image of India,'' said Christon.

''We have registered a case against the troublemakers. We have a arrested a couple of persons in this connection. Steps are being taken to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in future,'' said Manoj Abraham, Police Commissioner, Kochi.

This is an isolated incident but a few more of these and Kerala's image of a tourist-friendly destination could take a hit.
