Ishant, a dangerous customer’

Ricky Ponting called Ishant Sharma a dangerous customer to face with the angles he manages to create.

The Aussie skipper explained here on Sunday, “He brings the ball into the right handers more than most right-arm bowlers do. Usually, only the left-arm pacemen bring the delivery into the right-handers so much.”

Ponting said Ishant used his height, hit the pitch hard and managed to extract inconsistent bounce off the surface. He added, “he can be dangerous against the left-handed batsmen as well.”

Ishant said he relished bowling at Ponting, who was among his favourite batsmen. The paceman said his plan for Ponting was to bowl at the batsman’s off-stump.

The young bowler revealed skipper M.S. Dhoni had asked him to bowl to his strengths and his plan rather than try to be somebody else. “This calmed me down,” said Ishant.

The paceman wanted to continue bowling at full speed despite feeling a little tired and being bothered by a stomach ache on Sunday.
