JAIPUR: Almost a month after Jaipur serial blasts, the Special Operation Group (SOG) has claimed to have achieved a major breakthrough by arresting Bharatpur madrassa teacher Mohammed Ilyas Kari.
The SOG claimed Kari could have connections with the terrorist outfits including the suspects involved in the Jaipur blasts that claimed 69 lives.
Ilyas was recently arrested for possessing fake passports and possessing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. SOG also recovered fake documents from his possession after he was detained on May 13 from Bharatpur.
''A team under ASP Kesar Singh was set up to investigate his terror links after SOG got information about Ilyas' suspected role in the Mumbai serial blasts. Ilyas lived in Mumbai between 1989 to 1993," a source said. Singh told TOI that Ilyas has been booked under various sections for using forged documents, furnishing fake information to the government and under Section 12 of the Passport Act.
