New Delhi (PTI): Entirely shot in the Kashmir valley, noted director Santosh Sivan's 'Tahaan' releasing next week is not another film on terrorism but the troubled life of a boy in the region.
"The story is about a little boy and his best friend, a donkey. It is almost after 18 years that a Bollywood film has been entirely shot in the valley. And the experience was very overwhelming.
"The security personnel were friendly. Because we shot in winter, a large crowd used to surround us all the time. Some women and children were very enthusiastic to work in the movie," says Aashish Bhatnagar, the producer of the film.
While admitting that the situation of Kashmir has changed a lot to what they have seen during the shoot, Bhatanagar says, "Our crew members thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful sceneries of J-K. At that time, the valley was very peaceful and police and locals also supported us. We have not imagined that when the film will be ready for release, the condition would be so worse."
"Anupam Kher is a Kashmiri. But even he had some first time visit to some places. He was very happy. We also let locals to be the part of the film," he says.
But why 'Tahaan' is being called the story of a boy with a grenade? Is it something to do with terrorism? "No it is not based on any real incident but completely a fiction. But it does have a few aspect of terrorism. And the film has been given a 'U' certificate."
