West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi, who visited violence-ravaged Nandigram on Sunday to take stock of the situation, took time off to play cricket with children.
On reaching Nandigram, which has witnessed repeated violence since January this year, Gandhi joined the children playing cricket at the grounds of Sitananda College.
He wielded the willow and was bowled out in the very first ball. Gandhi, however, played on and faced a few more balls much to the delight of the children and the villagers who had gathered there.
Earlier, at Nimtauri, en route to Nandigram, the Governor stopped before a pandal being erected for Tara Ma puja and spoke to those engaged in work there.
