A record number of over 67.49 lakh pilgrims from various parts of the country have visited the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi, located in Trikuta hills in Reasi district, till November-end this year.
During the corresponding period last year, 63.81 lakh pilgrims visited the shrine, thus showing an increase of about 3.68 lakh pilgrims this year, officials said here.
In the month of November 2007 alone, as many as 5,48,696 pilgrims have paid their obeisance here against 4,56,801 pilgrims during this period in 2006, they said.
Presently 12,000 to 13,000 pilgrims are reaching the base camp Katra town daily for their onward journey to the cave shrine, located at a height of 5300 feet above sea level.
Elaborate arrangements have been made by the Shrine Board to provide maximum facilities to the visiting pilgrims, they said.
